Getting Rid of the Rift Raft

Since the recession has hit, people have been downsizing everything, pairing down to just the essentials. That trend has recently hit the soap opera world.

I've always watched The Young and The Restless, starting when I was a child trying to catch a glimpse of my mother's favourite show. This timeless show has classic couples that everyone knows are meant to be together.

The writers on the Y&R are now toying with our minds, bringing all these couples back together. Nick and Sharron had a reunion, although Nick is temporarily back with husband-stealing Phillis. And now the couple of all couples, Victor and Nicky, are about to get back together. Both of them have professed their undying love for each other...not to each other, but to Paul, Nicky's recently dumped fiance.

Times are tight, we don't need all of these extra women. Let's get rid of the wannabe-soap opera stars and new characters. The staple characters are not so young anymore, and we are all getting restless with the women-exchanges. Thank you Y&R for pairing it down and giving us the simple couplings we so desperately need.
